The recently completed transformation balances reverence for the home’s historic character with a bold, beautifully resolved modern design language, resulting in a residence that is as unexpectedly spacious as it is meticulously detailed.
A broad, light-filled hallway sets the tone with sleek lines, designer lighting and wide limed-oak flooring that immediately elevate the home’s refined material palette. The restored decorative mantle in the primary suite is paired with a luxurious stone-clad en-suite and a fully fitted walk-in robe. An elegant merging of Victorian charm and contemporary indulgence.
Floating timber stairs rise to the upper level, where two generous double bedrooms feature custom built-in joinery and integrated study nooks, each designed to maximise functionality without compromising aesthetic cohesion. A central stone bathroom anchors the space, showcasing a large walk-in shower and a sculptural soaker tub, its proportions and textures curated to evoke a quiet sense of retreat.
At the heart of the home, polished concrete floors define a superb open-plan living and dining zone, warmed by a wood-burning fireplace and framed by a premium stone kitchen equipped with induction cooking, integrated refrigeration and a dedicated bar fridge. Full-height stacking glass sliders dissolve the threshold between inside and out, opening to a private granite-paved courtyard. A striking concrete bench and built-in BBQ create a sculptural outdoor entertaining environment, reflecting the same design precision seen throughout the interior.
24 Lyons Street stands as a confident example of contemporary adaptation—where heritage character is celebrated and elevated through thoughtful intervention, artisanal craftsmanship and a timeless design sensibility. It is a project that encapsulates Home By MM’s commitment to restrained luxury, spatial clarity and enduring materiality.
